Ulongo Prayer
The word 'Ulongo' is a native Assamese word meaning nude. "Ulongo Prayer" depicts the purity and sanctity in the prayer of a woman in prison. Prison does not merely mean the general prison. The introspective meaning of prison here is the bindings which act as hindrances and barriers in the life of a woman on her path to freedom.
I got the inspiration for painting this piece of art by observing and studying the plight of many women who are not fortunate enough in their lives and who move on with a pure prayer in their hearts for freedom. The lady in the painting is praying to God to save her from the sins of the earth, with a strong belief and faith in her heart. This painting is dedicated to the sovereignty of women. The moon here depicts the superpower of God, whose blessings are sought by the woman amidst the barriers of life. It is the strong faith of the woman that God will come and free her from all sins and evils on this earth but is facing many obstacles in the path. This is "Ulongo Prayer" - the pure prayer.
